Editor & Writing Coach: Making Words Behave Since 1996

Technical Writing

I have a Master’s degree in Technical and Professional Writing, and have worked as a technical writer in the financial, corporate, high-tech, and manufacturing industries. I specialize in translating technical information into clear, engaging user manuals, reference guides, wizards, instruction sets, white papers, and inline/online help. I consider the documentation an integral part of the end product rather than a “nice-to-have” or an afterthought.

My editorial experience guides my approach to all documentation; as I draft content, I also create a maintenance structure including a style sheet, terminology reference, list of referring or referenced documentation, and a formatting summary or template.

I enjoy working with subject matter experts, contributing to usability reviews and testing, and creating user profiles, personas, and use cases. I am adept at reading requirements, specifications, and wireframes, and am a dab hand at creating UML activity diagrams.
